New module: The curriculum and beyond: what every governor needs to know

Modern Governor subscribers now have access to a strategic leadership e-learning module – part of the Governor responsibilities collection of modules. The module is broken down into three main sections with a conclusions and summary section following them:

What do we mean by ‘curriculum’? 

This section is designed to enhance governors’ and trustees’ understanding of “what gets taught” (and why) in a school and to understand the governance responsibilities with regard to the curriculum.

How does the National Curriculum work?

This section gives an understanding of the origins and structure of the National Curriculum, its statutory elements, how the National Curriculum is moulded and shaped to meet local need and the role of governance in supporting the delivery of the curriculum.

How does assessment impact on the curriculum?

Assessment strategies, qualification frameworks and curriculum models form part of a jigsaw puzzle and this section develops governors’ and trustees’ understanding of how the sometimes ill-fitting parts of this puzzle come together and impact on one another..

How the module works
