What is Twitter?

What is Twitter?

Share this:

TwitterAll of us at Learning Pool are huge fans of social media.  We use Yammer to communicate internally with each other across timezones, and Twitter, Facebook, Flickr and blogging to engage and share stuff with just about everybody else on the planet.

I’ve written about online communications for school governors before – the opportunities, the risks and guiding principals, and the main sites for digital participation – as part of a guidance document that we were putting together for NCOGS.

But as a school governor, where should you start?  And why should you bother?

Luckily, Learning Pool have just released this fab showreel called “What is Twitter?”.  It follows hot-on-the-heels of “What is Social Media?“.

Download the Learning Pool guides to Facebook pages and Twitter (make sure you follow @moderngovernor and become a fan on Facebook, while you’re there!).

I’m a primary school parent governor and I’m a techie. I’m trying to build a case for the school to develop social media advertising / school bulletins and connections. However I believe the site is blocked by county council, how would they access it?

@Craig Hi Craig – do you mean how would the school staff access it? Are you thinking of preparing a business case for the council to unblock social media sites?

If you email me your email address, I’ll see what information I can send you – it’s elaine[at]moderngovernor[dot]com

    Best wishes

    Hi there

I have been trying to find something to use to keep all our governors in touch. We currently use PBWorks but not all out governors are IT savvy and it is rather complicated. Ideally looking for something which offers a forum for discussion and sharing ideas; stores documents and provides links to interesting articles/reads.

Also looked at Edmodo but found that too classroom based. Any ideas?
