In this module you will examine what we mean by the term ‘curriculum’, such that you build an understanding of how it might be used in a variety of contexts and how it fits with a range of school objectives – for example, raising levels of progress and attainment, building inclusion, enhancing learning experiences and improving safeguarding.

We’ll also introduce to the broader language of curriculum – to terms such as ‘curriculum offer’,  ‘curriculum development’, ‘curriculum enrichment’, ‘cross-curricular’ and ‘extra-curricular’.

All of this is designed to enhance your understanding of “what gets taught” (and why) in  your school and to understand the responsibilities of governors with regard to the curriculum.
