This module aims to raise awareness and provide a general overview of the issues faced by those whose gender identity, gender expression or behaviour does not conform to that typically associated with the sex they were given at birth. This module will also address some commonly held misconceptions and explore the bigotry and discrimination facing trans (transgender) people.
You will examine how it might feel to be trans and learn to recognise the difference between sexuality and gender identity. This module will enable governors and trustees to understand some of the issues facing those within their school community – parents, pupils, staff and governors – who identify as transgender.
